Poetry

What Am I?

Stars with glittering beauty bright

Are splayed across the sky;

The comets gleam in stellar flight–

But, O Lord, what am I?

The angels in their garments shine,

And see the Holy One;

Yet all the things of earth are mine

To hold in dominion.

I am no seraph, good and pure;

I am no star-like beauty.

Yet this one thing I know for sure–

The LORD God thinks of me!

*taken from Psalm 8:3-6
