Just Be Still!

Image

“Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.” –Psalm 46:10 (KJV)

Too much. It is just. Too. Much. I have a mission trip coming up, for which I have music to prepare– tons of it. Every single piece is a piano accompaniment… and the stack seems to keep growing. I have meetings to go to, rehearsals to attend, practice time to squish into my schedule, a job, college plans… It’s just too much!!! I feel as if my head will EXPLODE! I keep finding myself overwhelmed, and complaining. My mind is a whirl of haste and anxiety…. and I just can’t do this!!!

Then again, I’m not supposed to do it alone. We all have busy, crazy, messy schedules. It’s part of being female! But what we forget so often is that we don’t have to do it alone. We forget that God is, well, GOD! He’s the Lord of the impossible, the Master of time, the Giver of strength and peace and grace… we just need to force ourselves to stop for a moment and breathe. And pray. And remember that He is in control, that He is sovereign. That He loves us. We need to take a little time to be still and know, and to be thankful. “I can do all things through Christ, which strengtheneth me.”

Dear Lord, thank you. Thank you for being in control of my life, no matter how out of control it seems. Thank you for the command to be still and know that you are God. Please give me the grace and peace to continue onward, even when life seems overwhelming. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
