“For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.” ~Psalm 84:11
Have you stopped recently to just think about God? Have you paused to meditate on His absolute goodness? I have, and I wish I did so more often!
According to this verse, God is a sun. He is the ultimate source of light. His brightness scatters all darkness. He shows the road His saints are to traverse. He is warm– His love comforts the desolate and lonely. Without Him, we could not grow and we could not survive.
God is a shield. He protects us from Satan’s hatred. Those that choose to hide in Him are saved– from wrath, from separation from God, from eternal hellfire.
God gives grace and glory. Grace– the blessings we do not deserve, the favor we cannot merit. Glory– the joy that comes from living for Him. He doesn’t have to give us joy; but our God actually cares about our happiness! It’s unfathomable; are we grateful?
God will not withhold anything good from those that walk in obedience to Him. When we delight ourselves in the Lord, He will give us the desires of our hearts! (Psalm 37:4)
Today, I am overwhelmed by God’s goodness, and by His love for me. He cares about the smallest details, answering prayers I had almost considered insignificant. He wants me to have joy– despite the grief I cause Him; and He wants to teach me– even when I am stubborn and refuse His lessons. He is ever patient, and ever faithful. And He loves me, despite me.
Have you paused lately to thank God for Who He is?
Great entry Paige! There is so much to God’s unique character that will forever remain incomprehensible until we meet Him face to face!
Thanks for commenting, Ashley!
Amen! “What a day, glorious day that will be!”
Well amen!! I love that verse as well as the psalm 37 one 🙂 great encouragement for the day. Thanks Paige
Thank you for your comment! Im happy this post was an encouragment. We serve a great God!
I love the Scripture you started with – it’s been written on the wall in my kitchen for a while now. Sometimes we need to remind ourselves that He will NOT withhold any good thing from us if we walk uprightly – and if we feel like something is withheld from us, then it would not be good for us at this stage in our journey! Thank you for your post!

God certainly is teaching me about joyfulness and thankfulness. He certainly is the only source of joy, and deserves my absolute thankfulness!
