“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” ~ Jeremiah 29:11-13
Next week, at this time, I’ll be in Costa Rica on a mission trip with some of my Sunday School classmates. This will be my very first trip oversea. The past few months have been a whirlwind of preparation: music rehearsals, meetings, planning, more rehearsals… The whole thing is a little nerve-wracking. Not because I’ll be away from my home, not because I’ll be on an airplane (I actually LOVE flying), but because this event is a giant step towards the beginning of my life. It’s a foot in the door to the land of adulthood. After I come home from Costa Rica, I “sally forth” to college– something I never thought was in God’s plans for me! The changes ahead of me are monumental (to me) and I find myself peeping at the road ahead through fingers closed in apprehension.
But I have been reminded that there is a plan. Our lives are not random, and our futures are realities with so much potential. Little by little, He draws back the curtain that covers our futures; slowly the contours and colors are being shown to us. The unknown isn’t a thing to fear; it’s God saying “Just wait until you see what I have for you! It’s the best!” We have a Map in our hands, a Friend to go with us, and a direction to run to. Let’s both make the decision to trust Him, and enjoy the journey.
My God, THANK YOU! You are GOOD! You are doing things in our lives that none of us can comprehend! Oh grant us grace to trust you more! In Jesus name, Amen.
May many be blessed, both here and abroad! May God also richly bless you, Paige!
